Yesterday was Adam's funeral and burial in York, Nebraska. I have attached a link to the York News Times website. It has coverage of Adam's body being brought to York and also the burial. It is very moving. There are pictures and videos of each. It was amazing how many people were at the airport when his body was being brought home. It will bring a tear to your eye for sure.
Please keep all of his family in your prayers. This must be a rough time for all of them and I am sure a few extra prayers wouldn't hurt.

I did not know Adam personally, but ready about his death on Melissa Hicks' blog. From what she wrote about him, he seemed like a wonderful person. I am praying for his family and friends during this extremely sad time. I am thankful for Adam and the other men and women who have given their lives for this country, and will always be indebted to them for the freedoms that I have as a citizen of the United States of America.
I am sad to hear about Adam. I am more sad that I did not get to know him better when we were in Oak Harbor together.
I regret it very much...in fact, I cannot help thinking about it a lot lately.
Erin, we have been praying for you and your girls. We know that Adam was a wonderful Christian man and his salvation was secure.

To All Parents
“I’ll lend you for a little time a child of Mine,” He said.
“For you to love the While he lives and mourn for when he’s dead.
It may be six or seven years, or 22 or three,
But will you, till I call him back, take care of him for me?
He’ll bring his charms to gladden you, and shall his stay be brief.
You’ll have his lovely memories as solace and relief.
“I cannot promise he will stay, since all from earth return,
But there are some lessons taught down there I want this child to learn.
I’ve looked the wide world over in my search for teachers true
And from the throngs that crowd life’s lanes I have selected you.
Now will you give him all your love, nor think the labor vain,
Nor hate Me when I come to take him back again?”
For all the joy Thy child shall bring, the risk of grief we’ll run.
We’ll shelter him with tenderness, we’ll love him while we may
And for the happiness we’ve known forever grateful stay;
But shall the angels call for him much sooner than we’ve planned.
We’ll brave the bitter grief that comes and try to understand.”
Adam, I will try to understand with every day I miss you my beloved son.
I Remember You
When I walk into my church,
I remember you.
When I see children playing in the school yard,
Girls and boys of all kinds,
I remember you.
When I see families working together,
Regardless of religion or nationality,
I remember you.
When I go to sleep
Without worry for my family’s safety,
I remember you.
When I see our flag waving in front of my home,
And when I can salute that flag without fear of reprisal,
I remember you.
When I remember you,
I think of the sacrifices you made so I could have these things.
I think of your commitment and your service
beyond mere duty.
I think of all that you have given
So that I and those whom I love can be free.
When I pray at night and give thanks
For the blessings God has given,
I remember you.

My name is Brenda Trent Collins. I knew Adam and Erin in college. I played soccer with Erin. At the beginning of August (2008) I went to visit my brother who is in EOD school down in Florida. While there my brother took me to the memorial built in honor of the those who have passed away while serving in EOD. I was able to take some pictures of the site and was wondering if anyone from Adam's family would like the pictures. I have them if you so choose to contact me. brendacollinsm@hotmail.com
I would like to be able to offer these pictures to Erin as well if anyone has her email or could pass this message along. Thank you and I am so sorry for your loss.
